Chinese New Year Celebration at Nashville Zoo

Chinese Arts Alliance of Nashville collaborates with Nashville Zoo to present Chinese New Year Celebration at the Nashville Zoo in conjunction with Zoo’s Zoolumination, Chinese Festival of Lights.

The Chinese New Year Celebration program and schedule:

5-6:30 PM: Mouse Mask Making for families

6:30-7:00 PM: MOUSE BRIDE puppet story telling with Dance

This will be debut of this production by Chinese Arts Alliance. CAAN specially presents this folk tale to welcome the Chinese New Year of the Mouse. We wish everyone happiness and prosperity.

7:00- 7:45 PM: Performances includes Chinese group drumming, lion dance, martial arts, TaiChi, songs, and traditional dances in addition to the Chinese Dragon Dance.

7:45-8:00 PM: Dragon Dance and parade with the Dragon through the Lights at the Zoo.

This coming Chinese New Year is the Year of the Mouse, some people call it the Year of Rat. The word 鼠shǔ can be interpreted as Mouse of Rat. People are born in the Year of Mouse/Rat tend to be clever, quick thinkers, positive, diligent and content with living a quiet and peaceful life.
