Chinese New Year Dinner Special

Friday, February 3, 2023

Curbside pickup from 6 to 6:30 PM

Lucky Bamboo (5855 Charlotte Pike, Nashville)

“Chinese New Year Dinner Special” presents varieties of “Chinese New Year dishes” to celebrate the Chinese New Year of Rabbit.  Due to COVID and health concerns, we will stay safe and celebrate with Curbside Pickup, giving diners an option of informal dining with your family and friends at Lucky Bamboo restaurant after picking up the dinner package.

Traditionally during the Chinese New Year, Chinese people gather with their families and enjoy dishes like fish for surplus, chicken for a great beginning, dumplings for good fortune, and sticky rice cake for promotions. Chinese also wear outfits in red because red is the color of good luck for the New Year.

This is a fundraiser for Chinese Arts Alliance of Nashville (CAAN), a non-profit arts organization that brings traditional Chinese lion dance, dragon dance, classic, folk and contemporary dance to our community and city.  Thirty percent of  the proceeds will benefit CAAN.  CAAN will also host a free Chinese New Year Celebration event at Musicians Corner, Centennial Park, plus arts and cultural programs at several other events and with other organizations.

About Chinese New Year:

Chinese New Year is the most celebrated Chinese Holiday.  Families have reunion, just like Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.  Family members, no matter how far they have to travel back home, will sit together at a round table and enjoy an abundance of special dishes to enjoy the happiness and pray for good fortune for the coming year.

There are 12 Zodiac animals marking each year.  The coming Chinese New Year is the New Year of the Rabbit.  It is said that people who are born in the year of the rabbit are calm and peaceful. They avoid fighting and arguing but are artistic and have good taste for life.  The Rabbit’s kindness may make them seem soft and weak. In truth, the Rabbit’s quiet personality hides their confidence and strength.
